East West Mixed Martial Arts
Self-confidence, civic responsibility, respect for self and others and fun are some of the wonderful "side-benfits" gained when you train with us at East West Mixed Martial Arts. Children and adults alike work with our instructors to build life-skills that will follow them throughout the rest of their lives. In between all the physical training we manage to squeeze in quite a bit of "extra-fun" as well.
Kid's Training
In a world of iPods, iPads, computer screens, video-on-demand and twitter, children lose focus and fitness. At East West Mixed Martial Arts we strive to provide a good balance back into children's lives. We build a child's physical and emotional well-being one step at a time. With each new set of moves and martial arts discipline, the child gains more and more self-empowerment. We love nothing more than watching bullied children grow the needed confidence to stand up to school yard bullies through self-confidence and holding their own. We emphasize non-violent defense against bullying while building character and physical fitness.
If we see a child beginning to give up and retreat back into themselves, we encourage them to keep trying, even if they fall short. Let's face it, no one escapes life without losing a few, and these are great learning opportunities to teach children to keep trying in the face of adversity.
We absolutely do not believe in making a child "sit one out" on the bench! We guide, encourage and make sure a sense of self-worth and confidence is brewed into each and every one of our youth participants. For parents who may associate martial arts with the "Cobra Kai" from "The Karate Kid," nothing could be further from the truth with East West Mixed Martial Arts. We are the Miyagi, so wax-on and wax-off!
Adult Training
It's hard as adults to admit we are out of shape, atrophying and flabby. It is even harder to do something about it. We understand this and encourage anyone who is ready to take a positive step forward to come in to our studios.
Classes for martial arts, full-body conditioning, cardio-development and weight loss are all part of the game plan we have in mind for you. We take the time to assess you level of fitness and health, and then direct you to the appropriate programs and classes.
Our classes range from personal self-defense to striking, grappling and full boxing routines. No one is out of the question for one of our programs. We will work with you on your personal goals and be there to encourage you should you begin to feel overwhelmed or that you "are not good enough."
Healthy Choices, Healthy Living
We believe firmly in the fact that healthy choices extend beyond the studios and classes. A balance of fitness, work, family and eating habits all contribute to a better you. We offer classes on proper nutrition and how to make positive, healthy choices in your life.
Seminars with guest speakers on topics such as bully-defense, preparing healthy meals, and how to keep balance in your life make East West Mixed Martial Arts part of your community.
Fun Stuff
We make sure to have a solid schedule of alternate events where you can meet your fellow students. Game nights, movie nights, holiday parties and lots of fun family activities is also why East West Mixed Martial Arts is so much more than a gym or dojo style studio. We want to be your friend and guide as you make the commitment to positive and healthy living.
